OUTLANDER TOUR
I invite you to take part in an incredible journey. Come and follow in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie, sit where they sat, eat where they ate, travel where they traveled, suffer where they suffered. From Lallybroch to Castle Leoch and Fort William, you will see the places where our main characters went from the greatest happiness to the most bitter pain. You will be able to feel their presence through the narrow streets of Cranesmuir and Inverness. You will enjoy the house of the Duke of Sandringham and you will shudder at Culloden Battlefield.
If you have been caught up in the mystical and captivating series Outlander, let yourself be carried away by the world of Claire and Jamie and visit the land that inspired the writer Diana Gabaldon and the producers of the TV series. From ancient and mysterious monoliths to spectacular castles, magnificent stately homes and breathtaking landscapes, embark on a dream journey in the footsteps of your favorite characters.
Discover with us the places where Claire and Jamie had their many adventures. Become a Sassenach!
Day 1: Edinburgh – Midhope Castle – Culross – Aberdour Castle – Dysart Harbour – Falkland – Pitlochry
A day full of excitement awaits us. We will begin by visiting a key location in Outlander: Midhope Castle or as it is known in the tv series, Lallybroch, Jamie’s family home. Next we will explore the cobbled streets and historic houses of Culross – Cranesmuir in the series – where we will feel like we are going back in time to the 17th and 18th centuries.
We will also visit Aberdour Castle and the picturesque port of Dysart, a filming location in the second season.
In the afternoon we will walk through the streets of Falkland, which in the series becomes Inverness in 1945. We will sleep in Pitlochry, another old and beautiful town of Victorian origin that will take us back in time and whose surrounding forests have also served as a setting for the series.
Day 2: Pitlochry – Highland Folk Museum – Culloden – Clava Cairns – Inverness – Loch Ness – Fort William
A thrilling day that will take our breath away. At the Highland Folk Museum we will visit the impressive replicas of 18th century Highland homes, which were the ideal choice for filming period scenes in the first season of Outlander. For example when Dougal collects the rent for the land. We will then visit Culloden Battlefield, the location for much of the series’ plot, and the place where the last battle ever on British soil took place, pitting the Jacobite army under Bonnie Prince Charlie against the Hanoverian troops of the central government, commanded by the Duke of Cumberland, popularly known as ‘The Butcher’. Experience the tragedy that ended the society of the clans on April 16, 1746, in the same place where it all happened. We will explore the nearby stone circle of Clava Cairns, which is said to have inspired Craigh na Dun. We will continue discovering Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, next to the famous Loch Ness, and we will sleep in Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom.
Day 3: Fort William – Glenfinnan – Glencoe – Doune Castle – Stirling
Today we will visit Glenfinnan, the place where the dream of the third and final Jacobite rebellion began, where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the Stuart standard for the last time, and together with the clans began his march towards Edinburgh and later, London. We will also have the opportunity to see Glenfinnan Viaduct, which appears in the Harry Potter films. We will continue towards the spectacular valley of Glencoe, which appears in the credits of the series and we will visit another key location in the filming of the series: Doune Castle, better known to you all as Castle Leoch, the home of Colum Mackenzie and his legendary clan.
Day 4: Stirling – Bo’ness & Kinneil Train Station – Blackness Castle – Hopetoun House – Edinburgh
Bo’ness & Kinneil Train Station was transformed into the London train station where Claire and Frank say goodbye during the war in Season 1. We will continue by visiting Blackness Castle, a 15th-century fortress that provided the setting for Black Jack Randall’s headquarters at Fort William, as well as appearing in the heartbreaking scene of Jamie’s flogging. Later we will visit Hopetoun House, one of the best examples of great Scottish architecture and which appears in different episodes of the first three seasons of our favourite series.
